hiFace DAC: high performance compact 384/32 DAC

M2Tech, the italian company devoted to high quality digital audio based on music files, is proud to introduce a new, revolutionary DAC: the hiFace DAC. Very high performance packed in a small, pendrive-like case, the hiFace DAC is capable of up to 384/32, delivering crystal-clear sound even with 44.1/16 files and first class emotions with hi-rez files.
Its unbelievable performance for a unit of its size and price makes it the perfect tool for the discerning user who wants to set up a system with tight budget without trading off performance, as well as a high quality second or portable hifi system. Think of a small netbook or an iPad, a hiFace DAC and a small desktop amplifier with high definition monitors or a headphones amp with good headphones: stunning sound quality at an affordable price. But its high level of overall performance also justifies the choice of using it in a main hifi system, devoting more of the budget to other equipment for a higher quality final result.
The hiFace DAC is future-proof thanks to its wide range of allowable sampling rates and resolutions. Its USB interface is USB 2.0 Audio Class compatible, so it can be coupled to Windows, MacOS and Linux computers. Our windows driver allows for using the hiFace DAC with XP, Vista, W7 and W8 machines, while no driver is required to use it with 10.6.4, 10.7 and 10.8 machines, as well as recent Linux machines.
Its analog output, based on 3.5mm stereo jack socket, delivers 2Vrms, to be coupled to preamplifiers and integrated amps line inputs, but it is also capable of driving a wide range of headphones.
As with all other M2Tech products, the hiFace DAC is entirely designed and manufactured in Italy, and shipped after exhaustive testing on each unit.
The hiFace DAC comes in a lively orange color to further distinguish it from competitors and is shipped in an elegant box with dark grey foam padding and 4-color printing. All relevant information will be available on the box: technical specifications, quick start-up, link to the manual on our website, etc.

REVIEW: HIFACE DAC
No cable, no phono sockets, no volume control - is less really more?

Product name: M2Tech hiFace DAC
Manufacturer: M2Tech hiFace DAC
Cost: 220 euros. (Currency conversion)
(YMMV)

Summing up, this USB DAC is amazingly good. Amazing because of it's diminutive size, the fact that it is powered from the computer, and its low price. The iDAC does have phono output sockets, a volume control for the headphone outputs, and arguably a nicer case, but it costs a third more. I can see the hiFace at its lower price being a huge attraction to anybody wanting the 'most bang for their buck. If you already have a computer audio set up, and want an upgrade where you can really hear the improvement, but don't want to break the bank, the hiFace DAC is probably exactly what you are looking for. I can see this little orange DAC becoming a very familiar sight in many audiophile systems. And on another positive note, it also shows that the iDAC was no fluke, and that the standard of this type of audio source is getting noticeably better as time goes on. So is this really a case of less is more? In terms of being a hi-fi bargain, the answer is surely - YES!
